As featured on Times "The Great British Weekend" article, SeaMôr runs wildlife watching and dolphin research boat trips from Aberaeron. The trips leave from the steps in front of the Harbour Master Hotel past the beautiful Ceredigion Heritage coastline into well known dolphin feeding sites of Llanina reef and New Quay bay. No trip is the same and although we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings we typically see variety of seabirds, grey seals, bottlenose dolphins and harbour porpoises. Occasional visitors here are sunfish, basking sharks, minke whales and even humpback whales!
The crew will help you spot and identify the different species we see and if you are keen you can assist in the dolphin research conducted by the SeaMôr team by filling in survey forms. We also conduct photo-identification of the dolphins, as part of a wider scientific survey of Cardigan Bay and all survey data is passed to Sea Watch Foundation for further analysis. Hanna is a bio-acoustician and studies the sounds the dolphins and porpoises make. She can tell you all about how they communicate and find their prey underwater. We carry a hydrophone onboard and listen to the dolphins and porpoises every time we see them.
The trip times vary every day according to the tides and are displayed in the Tourist Information Centre as well as on posters around town. Typical trip runs for 1.5-2hrs, and costs £20 for adults and £10 for children 16 or under. Trips are weather dependent and we can only fit 12 people so advance booking is required.
